Once there lived a poor farmer in a certain village. He supported his family with great hardship. One day, he bought a goose. It was a magical goose because it used to lay a golden egg daily. He used to sell the golden egg at the market. He became rich.
But by this time, the man became very greedy and impatient to have all the eggs at a time. He thought that if he cut the goose, he would get all the eggs at a time. And in this way, he would be richer overnight.
So, he told his wife his plan. His wife was a wise woman, and she was not greedy. So she requested her husband not to do so. But the farmer did not listen to his wife. Finally, he cut its stomach with a sharp knife.
But alas! There was no egg in it. The farmer was sorry. His wife also scolded him. She said, “You are foolish but greedy. So you have lost all.”

One day, he bought a goose from the market, and the stomach of the goose was full of gold eggs. He could not check his greed. A wicked idea came to his mind. He wanted to be rich overnight, and so he wanted to get all the eggs at a time.
He told his plan to his wife. His wife was not greedy and said, “Be happy with what you have.” The farmer did not listen to her words and decided to kill the goose.
One day, his wife was absent from the house, and the greedy farmer got a golden chance that day. He brought a sharp knife and cut open the belly of the goose with it.
But alas! There was no egg in it, and the farmer lost the goose forever. He could understand his foolishness, but it was too late. He became sad and thought that he would not get gold eggs anymore.
He cried out, saying, “What a great fool I am!” Then his wife said, “You’re foolish but greedy. So you’ve lost all,” The story proves that grasps all, lose all.
