A Rainy Day
A rainy day is a day when it rains continuously all day long. In Bangladesh, rainy days are very common during the monsoon season. On such a day, the sky remains overcast with dark, heavy clouds, and the sun is hidden from view. Sometimes, loud thunder cracks and bright lightning flashes across the sky, making the day look gloomy and dark.
A rainy day brings both joy and problems for different people. For students, it is often a fun day. If it rains heavily in the morning, schools are closed, allowing children to stay at home, play indoor games, or read storybooks. People also love to eat delicious foods like khichuri on a rainy day. Nature looks fresh and beautiful as the rain washes away dust from trees and plants, and the cold breeze cools down the hot weather.
However, a rainy day causes great suffering for the poor and daily laborers, such as rickshaw pullers and street vendors. They cannot go out to work, which means they cannot earn money to buy food for their families. Roads become muddy and slippery, and low-lying areas often get flooded with water. This creates heavy traffic jams and makes it very difficult for office workers to travel. Even though it causes some trouble, a rainy day is highly necessary for our farmers because rainwater helps our crops and rice paddies grow well.
