A Rainy Day
On a rainy day, it rains all day long. A rainy day is dull and gloomy. The sky is overcast with thick clouds. The sky is not seen. None can go out without an umbrella. Water stands on roads and roads become muddy and slippery. Those who have offices and other businesses go out with an umbrella over the head, shoes in hand clothes folded up to the knee. Passers-by also move in the same way. Sometimes people slip and fall on the muddy road. When it rains in torrents, people get drenched and stop midway. The poor suffer much on a rainy day. They cannot go out in quest of work and cannot earn their daily food. They pass the day through suffering. Most of the students do not go to school. Only a few go to school but they get drenched on the way. So classes are not held and it is a day of great joy to them. Other people also stay at home and pass the day without doing anything. The cattle keep standing in their sheds and bellow for fodder. A rainy day is not pleasant at all.

একটি বৃষ্টির দিনে, সারা দিন বৃষ্টি পড়ে। একটি বৃষ্টির দিন মনোনিবেশ এবং অবসাদপূর্ণ। আকাশ মোটা মেঘের সাথে ঢাকা। সারা দিন আকাশ দেখা যায় না। সহমান ছাতা ছাড়াই কেউ বাইরে যেতে পারে না। রাস্তা প্রস্থ থাকে এবং রাস্তা মটমটে এবং স্ক্লিপারি হয়ে যায়। যারা দফতর এবং অন্যান্য ব্যবসায় করে, তারা মাথায় ছাতা নিয়ে বেরিয়ে যান, পায়ে জুতা হাতে এবং পোশাক হাঁটুর সম্মুখে ফোল্ড করে। যাত্রীরা ওয়াও এই সময়ে চলে যান। কখনও মানুষ মটমটে রাস্তায় স্লিপ করে পড়ে। যখন মুখোমুখি বৃষ্টি পড়ে, মানুষরা ভিজে যান এবং মধ্যপথে থামে যান। একটি বৃষ্টির দিনে দারিদ্র্য অনেক ক্ষতি পায়। তারা কাজের খোঁজে বের হতে পারে না এবং তাদের দৈনন্দিন খাবার আর্জন করতে পারে না। তারা দুঃখের মাধ্যমে দিন পার করে। শিক্ষার্থীর অধিকাংশ স্কুলে যায় না। কেবল কয়েকটি স্কুলে যায়, তাদের একদিকে ভিজে যান। তাই শ্রেণি কার্যক্রম নেওয়া হয় না এবং এটি তাদের জন্য একটি অত্যন্ত আনন্দের দিন। অন্যান্য মানুষরা সহায়ে বাড়ি থাকে এবং কিছুই না করে দিন পার করে। প্রাণীরা তাদের গোশালায় দাঁড়িয়ে থাকে এবং চারখানার জন্য কাঁদছে। একটি বৃষ্টির দিন সাম্প্রতিক্ষ সুখদ নয়।
